If you haven't got the hardware to update to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, you're stuck with 10.7.5 as the end of the line. This is extremely disappointing! But that's what Apple has handed us with OS X 10.7 Lion, one of my least favorite versions of OS X since cruddy old 10.0 and 10.1.
All you'll create is a nonfunctional mess. Forget about trying to set up your own sync folder inside 'Mobile Documents'. Forget about all the kewl tools for enabling iCloud to do stuff Apple neglected. All you really get is syncing of Mail, iCal, Address Book, Safari bookmarks, Notes and all the iTunes features. IOW: iCloud support on 10.7.5 is a meagre, minimal amount. After having to turn off Gatekeeper to set up iClouDrive, I then found that it simply will not and cannot work on 10.7.5 despite assertions to the contrary from its young developer, Sebastian. I've also been trying to use the one iCloud enabling app I could find that is 'supposed' to work with 10.7.5, that being iClouDrive. You'll find other iCloud aware apps in 10.8.x are also iCloud oblivious in 10.7.5. All of the above listed OS X features (iWork being of interest in this case) are OBLIVIOUS of iCloud. * Note : Although you can use iOS 5 and OS X Lion as noted above, you will not be able to take advantage of some iCloud features, such as Shared Photo Streams, iCloud Tabs, Find My iPhone Lost Mode, Documents in the Cloud for iWork, and Find My Friends location-based alerts.
